ST. CLOUD, Minn (KNSI) President Obama's Transportation Secretary--Ray LaHood--was in St. Cloud today to make a big announcement.
LaHood says the St. Cloud Metropolitan Transit Commission is getting $3.3 million dollars as part of the federal government's Clean Fuels Grant Program.
Metro Bus will use the money to purchase new buses that run on compressed natural gas, as well as build a new fueling station.
LaHood says the new buses will run cleaner, and be more fuel efficient.
St. Cloud is one of 27 projects around the country receiving more than $59 million in funds through the Federal Transit Administration.
Metro Bus Director of Operations--Tony Kellen--says the new buses should be on the streets of St. Cloud by 2014.
