ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) News out of Minnesota's Sixth Congressional District over the weekend, where former State Representative Phil Krinkie announced he will run for Michele Bachmann's job on the Republican ticket.

Krinkie is from Shoreview, and is the president of the Taxpayers League of Minnesota. He served in the Minnesota House from 1991 to 2006. He held his first campaign event Saturday at the Sherburne County Fair in Elk River.

He joins Tom Emmer of Delano, State Senator John Pederson of St. Cloud and Anoka County Commissioner Rhonda Sivarajah in the Republican Party field.

Sartell Mayor Joe Perske says he could make an announcement as soon as this week on whether he'll be a candidate for Bachmann's U.S. House seat. If he does, Perske will run on the Democratic ticket, which as of  now has only one announced candidate--political novice Judy Adams of Circle Pines.
