ST. CLOUD (KNSI) – Leighton Enterprises and AM 1450/FM 103.3, KNSI, are pleased to announce the hiring of Dan Terhaar as the new voice of St. Cloud State Husky hockey play-by-play and a morning host.
“After an intense review of literally more than a hundred applicants from all over the country, the name Dan Terhaar kept rising to the top”, said KNSI Program Director Bob Hughes. “Dan’s ability, his rich hockey history and knowledge of the game that he brings to the radio station was exactly what we were looking for to take Husky broadcasts to the next level.”
Since graduating from Brown College in 1982, Dan Terhaar, a New Hope, MN native, has worked throughout the Midwest within the radio and television industry, including on KSTP and WCCO.
His passion for sports started as a kid and has continued throughout his career and today, as he continues to be the voice for sports competition of all levels.
Dan Terhaar’s play-by-play resume covers high school sports in Minnesota and North Dakota and as the radio voice of the University of North Dakota and the University of Minnesota hockey teams.
His television play-by-play experience has put Dan behind the mic for Minnesota State High School Tournaments, Saint Cloud State University Hockey and the NHL’s Minnesota Wild for 7 seasons.
“Dan Terhaar is a professional. He has the experience, not only calling college hockey, but the Minnesota Wild,” Hughes said of the former WCCO-AM radio sports director. “He knows Minnesota hockey, knows Minnesota hockey players and he’s a Minnesota kid.
Dan Terhaar will begin covering the Huskies at their season opener this Friday against Bemidji State University.
In addition to his play-by-play duties, he will be on-air from 5:00-8:00 am on weekdays.
