HASTINGS, Minn. (AP) — Prosecutors contend a Minnesota man was the only person with a reason to kill his pregnant wife.

Jurors heard closing arguments Monday in the murder trial of 37-year-old Roger Holland. Holland is accused of murdering his wife, Margorie, and her 15-week-old fetus March 7 in their Apple Valley apartment.

The prosecution argued that the couple's marriage was falling apart, and that Margorie Holland was talking about leaving her husband and turning him in to police for using her credit cards.

But Holland's attorneys argued that he'd have to be "the stupidest murderer ever" to commit the crime as the prosecution described it. The defense maintains investigators decided from the start that Holland was guilty and ignored other evidence.

Jury deliberations began Monday afternoon.
