CHANHASSEN, Minn. (KNSI) Minnesota Winter Hazard Awareness Week begins today as the state prepares for cold temperatures, snow and ice.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Todd Krause says it's important to closely watch the forecast during the winter months and if it sounds like there might be snow in another two or three days and it sounds like it might be heavy, just be aware of that and be willing to change plans and do the sort of preparations normally needed.
Krause says a winter weather "warning" is usually issued when there's going to be six-plus inches of snow and strong winds. A winter weather "watch" indicates storm conditions are possible in 36 to 48 hours.
