ST. PAUL, Minn. (KNSI) The Minnesota DNR says Eurasian watermilfoil has been found on the west side of Clear Lake in northern Meeker County.

DNR staff discovered the invasive plant species on the west side of the lake. It forms dense mats of vegetation that crowd out native plants and clog boat propellers.

Eurasian watermilfoil has now been found in more than 260 lakes, rivers and streams in Minnesota.

The DNR is asking boaters and anglers on Clear Lake to be vigilant in examining and cleaning their boats when removing them from the water.
