ST. CLOUD, MN (KNSI) - Mayor Dave Kleis presented his proposed 2013 budget to the St. Cloud City Council Monday night.
The mayor is proposing that city staff receive a "very modest" wage increase next year. It would be the first pay raise for city employees since 2008, when wages went up one percent. And while employees could see a small raise next year, Kleis says the overall budget would see a two-point-eight percent decrease in spending.
The mayor is also proposing that the property tax levy remain at 20-point-nine million dollars--the same as this year.
The city of St. Cloud has had a hiring freeze in place since 2008, and Kleis thanked city staff at last night's meeting for stepping up and meeting the challenges during some difficult financial times.
