WORTHINGTON, Minn. (AP) Power company officials say Murray County area residents should have energy restored Sunday, but it's still unclear when Nobles County will be restored.

A Tuesday ice storm knocked out power to thousands of people in southern Minnesota and wet snow fell on top of the thick layer of ice.

Nobles Cooperative Electric spokeswoman Tracy Haberman said Saturday that over 2,000 poles are damaged. Company officials say crews first were slowed by ice buildup, then by snow and now frost and saturated soil are making setting poles difficult.

Haberman says Nobles County could be out for an "extended period." She says Nobles County is taking longer because there was more ice buildup on the area's lines. She says there were still about 2,500 people out of power Saturday afternoon.
