ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) The Minnesota House is getting ready to vote on whether gay couples should be allowed to get married in the state.
Debate on the House floor is scheduled to start Thursday afternoon. It could bring thousands to the Capitol, after both supporters and opponents of gay marriage urged their allies to descend on St. Paul.
DFL leaders in the House say they have the votes to pass the bill. If it's successful, the Senate is scheduled to vote on the bill on Monday.
Gov. Mark Dayton says he will sign the bill, which would allow weddings between same-sex couples starting on Aug. 1.
