ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - Christmas shopping is well underway -- but the official Christmas season? That starts Saturday night in downtown St. Cloud.
The 9th annual Winter Nights and Lights Parade fun starts at 1 p.m. over at Lake George with a Winter Wonderland hosted by the city Parks and Recreation Department. The event features sleigh rides, crafts and cookie decorating. Admission there is $3 for children or $5 for the whole family. A food shelf donation will give you $1 off on admission.
At 4 p.m., horse-drawn carriage rides start downtown, followed by the main event at 5 p.m. -- the annual holiday parade down St. Germain Street to the River's Edge Convention Center.
St. Cloud Downtown Council Executive Director Pegg Gustafson said everyone's excited for St. Cloud's first official city tree-lighting ceremony.
"Hopefully, this can become part of the tradition," Gustafson said.
The 6:15 tree-lighting outside the River's Edge Convention Center is followed by another new attraction -- an after-party hosted at the Kelly Inn and Green Mill.
