MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (AP) A judge in Blue Earth County has ruled that investigative reports will stay private in the case of a former college football coach who was cleared of child pornography charges.

Attorneys for Todd Hoffner asked for an injunction to keep the reports sealed after a Twin Cities television station asked for them. In a ruling filed Friday, Judge Krista Jass granted that request. Jass called it an occasion in which the press must exercise restraint and some effort to protect the rights of the accused.

Hoffner is the former head football coach at Minnesota State University, Mankato. He was cleared of child porn charges last year, after Jass concluded that short videos of his kids acting silly after a bath were not child porn and showed nothing illegal.
