ST. CLOUD, MN (KNSI) - It's getting underway in just a few days -- construction work starts Monday on the diverging-diamond interchange at Highway 15 and Stearns County Road 120.
MnDOT says drivers may run into some intermittent single-lane closures during non-rush hours, but the project is expected to have only minor effects on traffic this year since most of the initial work is happening off the roadway.
The following week, however, Stearns County will shut down 120 just off 15 so they can install the first of two new roundabouts on 120 in front of CentraCare. That work starts July 23rd.
Detours will be posted, but the road will be shut down for nearly a month. After that work is done, the closure will move to 120 and 50th Avenue, where the second roundabout will go in.
The full diverging diamond project won't be finished until late next year.
