WAITE PARK, Minn. (KNSI) - Classes at the McKinley Area Learning Center in Waite Park have been called off for the day after reports that a former student threatened to bring a gun into the building.
The Waite Park Police tell KNSI the unnamed student told friends about a potential plan to hurt people at the school, located at 216 8th Avenue North in Waite Park.
That information was passed on to the police, who after discussions with school administration, made the decision to close the school on Friday.
Classes at other District 742 school are proceeding with normal hours.
Staff were allowed to be in the building after police determined it to be all clear. There is still police presence on site as a precaution.
No arrests have been made in connection with the case. The investigation into the threats is ongoing, along with a search for the suspect, and officials say more information will be released as details develop.
