ROSEVILLE, MN (KNSI) - Twelve members of the Minnesota National Guard arrived home this weekend after a one-year deployment in Afghanistan. Families and soldiers were reunited Saturday afternoon in Roseville.
The soldiers were part of the Operational Mentoring and Liaison Team, or OMLT. They partnered with Croatian soldiers to train, mentor and advise Afghan soldiers.
Army Major John Wisniewski says nine of the 12 soldiers are fathers, so it was especially exciting for them to return in time for Father's Day.
A guard spokesman says this is the fifth of six OMLT groups to return from Afghanistan.
