ST. PAUL, MN (AP) - The St. Paul district of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says a Grand Rapids lake is expected to rise rapidly over the next few days.

Pokegama Lake is a flood-control reservoir. It could rise as much as 1 to 2 feet in the next few days, for two reasons.

First, the area has received 3 to 4 inches of rain during the last four days. And second, because of flooding concerns downstream, the Army Corps is slowing the release of water.

The Corps says its engineers will monitor the situation on the reservoir and in the river both upstream and downstream.

Property owners in the area are being asked to move any boat lifts and docks to higher ground.
