DETROIT LAKES, Minn. (KNSI) Former Becker County Sheriff Tim Gordon has pleaded not guilty to charges in Becker County District court after a court hearing Monday afternoon.

In January, Gordon was charged with two felony counts of Theft by Swindle and Presenting a False Claim along with gross misdemeanor counts of misconduct of a Public Official.

Gordon resigned as Becker County Sheriff in October of 2012. Gordon served the county for 10 years prior to resigning.

The charges arose from the alleged sale of Gordon's boat to Becker County for an alleged inflated price and through use of alleged false documents that hid ownership.

A pre-trial hearing has been set for May 28th.

Gordon was represented in court by local attorney Paul Thorwaldson and Michael Dolan from the Alexandria area. The case is being prosecuted by Stearns County Assistant Attorney Kevin Voss. Stearns County was given the case to prevent a conflict of interests since Gordon worked for the county.
