BURLINGTON, Vt. (KNSI) Freshman goalie Adam Wilcox made 26 saves to help Minnesota beat Vermont 3-1 Saturday for a sweep of their men's college hockey series.
Wilcox also was in nets in Friday's 5-1 win by the fourth-ranked Gophers (9-2-2). For the weekend, Wilcox stopped 48 of 50 shots and held the Catamounts (2-6-2) scoreless on eight power plays.
Minnesota scored twice in a span of 1:10 in the second period, getting goals from Tom Serratore and A.J. Michaelson to go up 2-0 at 3:59 of the period.
Vermont got within a score on Jacob Fallon's goal early in the third. But Nate Condon tossed in an empty-netter to seal it with 54 seconds left.
Brody Hoffman had 30 saves for the Catamounts.
The teams combined to go 0-for-9 on the power play.
