MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KNSI) Beer and wine sales brought in more than $900,000 in their first season at the University of Minnesota's TCF Bank Stadium.
University officials say sales at the Gophers' seven home football games averaged $129,610.
Associate Athletics Director Scott Ellison says the university sold between 12,000 and 13,000 cups of beer at each game — way more than initial projections of 7,000 per game.
Profits from alcohol sales go to the athletics department. Ellison says university officials are still tallying up the expenses and should have the final numbers within the next few weeks.
While there were concerns that alcohol sales would lead to trouble, campus police Lt. Erik Swanson says the stadium saw fewer incidents this season than in any of its previous three seasons.
