ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) Gasoline prices reach another benchmark Tuesday.

AAA Minnesota's Gail Weinholzer says the national average price of gas will surpass the three-dollar a gallon mark tomorrow for the 1,000th consecutive day for the first time on record. The current streak began on December 23rd, 2010.

AAA forecasts the national average will remain above three-dollars a gallon for at least another thousand days, "barring a major economic recession."

Gas prices on average have remained above $3,50 a gallon for the majority of days during the current streak. Minnesota's average gasoline prices set an all-time record high of $4.27  a gallon on May 20th of this year.
