WINONA, Minn. (AP) - Law enforcement officers, first responders and others plan to hold a funeral next month for the baby whose body was found in the Mississippi River last September.
The body of the infant girl was discovered wrapped in bags that also contained an angel figurine, so authorities have referred to the child as "Baby Angel.''
An investigation by local authorities, along with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and Dakota County Coroner's Office, is continuing as investigators continue to try and find both the mother and father.
Winona County Sheriff Dave Brand tells KAGE radio a service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Winona on Saturday, April 7th, at 1:00 p.m. The sheriff says the service will be open to the public.
