LITTLE FALLS, Minn. (KNSI) More than 400 people have gathered at a Little Falls church for the funeral of two teens shot to death after they allegedly broke into a man's home on Thanksgiving Day.
Saturday's ceremony lasted more than an hour. Mourners shared memories of 18-year-old Haile Kifer and her 17-year-old cousin, Nicholas Brady.
The two were scheduled to be buried Saturday afternoon at a cemetery near Pillsbury.
They were shot to death in the home of 64-year-old Byron Smith, who has since been charged with second-degree murder. He told investigators the teens had broken into his home, but authorities say he used more than reasonable violence to neutralize any threat.
Authorities say a car linked to the cousins contained items stolen from another house.
