ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) Freezing rain has iced up highways in central Minnesota this morning.
A Freezing Rain Advisory is posted for the St. Cloud area until 9 am.
Ice accumulations are expected to be a tenth of an inch or less, but untreated roads and sidewalks could be slippery.
Many area schools have delayed the start of classes today due to the icy conditions, and a few school districts have cancelled classes for the day.
Much colder weather is on tap for the weekend. St. Cloud will see falling temperatures throughout the day Saturday, and by Saturday night, wind chill values will be between 10 and 15 degrees below zero.
The northwest corner of Minnesota is under a Winter Storm Warning from 6 pm tonight until noon Saturday. Areas from Crookston to Baudette could pick up more than six inches of snow.
