FOLEY, MN (KNSI) - The Foley City Council has found the man they'd like to see become its next police chief.

Brant Standridge was one of three finalists for the job. Following a successful interview, he'll be offered the position contingent on passing a background check, physical and psychological exams, and the negotiation of a salary and benefits package.

The initial budget included a salary of $56,000 for the job. Standridge works full-time for the White Earth Police Department in the highway safety division, and part-time for a department in Dayton.

A Minnesota native, Standridge attended Forest Lake High School, and spent time in the Army and the National Guard. Foley disbanded its police department in 2003, and has been without police services since last year when negotiations with the Benton County Sheriff's Department failed to produce a deal.
