FOLEY, MN (KNSI) - The city of Foley is getting closer to name the chief of its new police department. A search committee has been sifting through applications, and now the list has been narrowed down to three finalists: Joseph Backlund, Brant Standridge, and Douglas Pomplun.

The Foley City Council will interview the finalists over the next couple of weeks. Foley's interim police chief--Hal Henning--applied for the job on a full-time basis, but did not make the top three. However, the city council offered to extend his contract through the end of June as the search winds down.

Foley disbanded its police department in 2003, and has been without police services since last year when negotiations for patrols by the Benton County Sheriff's Department failed to produce an agreement.
