ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) Five candidates are vying for an open seat on the Stearns County Board of Commissioners.

The filing deadline was Tuesday at 5 pm.

The candidates are former state lawmaker Jeff Bertram of Paynesville, Sauk Centre Mayor Brad Kirckof, Sauk Centre farmer Dave Gamradt, Crow River Township Chairman Alan Loch of Belgrade and former Freeport City Council member Steve Notch.

A primary election will be held November 19th and the special election is January 28th. The winner will serve out the remainder of the late Dot Otte's term in District Five. Otte passed away last month.
