SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. (KNSI) A fire early Monday morning caused heavy damage to a 24-unit storage building in Sauk Rapids.
The fire at 731 Benton County Road 1 was reported at 12:03 am.
Sauk Rapids Fire Chief Tony Hommerding tells KNSI the fire was in a large metal storage building. He says about 80-percent of the storage units were destroyed along with their contents, which included at least one vehicle.
The State Fire Marshal's Office will look for the cause.
Fire departments from Sauk Rapids and Sartell were on the scene for about six hours.
Hommerding says one firefighter slipped on the ice and was treated at St. Cloud Hospital for a knee injury.
