BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) North Dakota wildlife officials say more pheasant hunters took to the field in 2012 but they bagged fewer roosters than the year before.
The State Game and Fish Department says the number of pheasant hunters increased by 4 percent from 2011 to 2012 but the overall bird harvest fell 10 percent.
Last year, nearly 86,000 hunters killed 616,000 roosters.
The annual pheasant season statistics are determined by a mail survey of resident and nonresident hunters.
