ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis and Congresswoman Michele Bachmann are scheduled to meet with Governor Mark Dayton and others today to talk about the Minnesota Department of Transportation's draft plan for major highway projects in the state over the next two decades.
That draft plan could be finalized this fall, and Bachmann and St. Cloud offiicials want to make sure it includes plans to expand and add lanes to Interstate 94 between St. Cloud and the northwestern Twin Cities suburbs.
They say failing to expand the highway will slow the region's economic growth and hurt its quality of life. MnDOT officials acknowledge that gridlock on I-94 is a problem, but they say fundiung for the project is simply not available.
