ELY, Minn. (AP) - The city of Ely has imposed a six-month moratorium on synthetic drugs and electronic cigarettes.

E-cigarettes are prohibited anywhere regular tobacco cigarettes are not allowed, including restaurants, bars and parks. It also bans businesses that sell e-cigarettes from allowing customers to sample the products indoors.

The moratorium also bans any business or person from selling synthetic drugs.

Mayor Ross Peterson says the moratorium gives the city some time to draw up a permanent ordinance.
