MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KNSI)  The season hasn't even started yet, and the injury bug has already bitten the University of Minnesota men's basketball team.

Coach Tubby Smith announced freshman guard Wally Ellenson will miss six to eight weeks after breaking his hand in a rebounding drill at practice Tuesday. Smith says it's possible the 6 foot 4 guard from Rice Lake, Wisconsin could be redshirted.

The Gophers open the season with an exhibition game against Minnesota State at Williams Arena Thursday night.
