ELY, Minn. (AP) — Search and rescue crews have located the eight members of a canoe party missing in the Boundary Waters near Ely.

Authorities say the three adults and five children were treated at Ely-Bloomenson Community Hospital Thursday night. Lake County Rescue Squad's Justin Mayne says the eight appeared to be in good condition, although some were being monitored for hypothermia.

The eight were in two separate canoes that capsized on Basswood Lake. They were reported missing about 4:30 p.m. Thursday. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the State Patrol joined county first responders in the search. Three of the missing canoeists were found near Canadian Point. The five others were found just north of Washington Island.

Six of the eight were taken to the hospital by air. The two others were transported by ambulance.
