ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) A 17 year-old juvenile from St. Cloud was injured Sunday when he jumped out of a moving car that was being chased by Stearns County deputies.

The incident began just after 8:00 p.m. when a deputy stopped a car on a traffic violation in the city of St. Augusta.

The deputy noticed signs of intoxication and asked the juvenile to step out of the car for a field sobriety test, but he put the car back in gear and fled.

The chase went into Luxemburg and then northbound on Highway 15 into St. Cloud. At one point just north of Luxemburg, the fleeing driver was passing other vehicles and forced a truck into the ditch.

Near the Interstate 94 overpass on Highway 15, the driver jumped out of the still moving car. He was treated at the scene and taken to St. Cloud Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The sheriff's office was assisted by St. Cloud and Waite Park police, the State Patrol and Gold Cross Ambulance.
