ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will be on the lookout for impaired boaters this weekend.
Extra patrols will be on lakes across the state this weekend in preparation for the upcoming Fourth of July holiday as a part of Operation Dry Water.
DNR enforcement officer Mike Martin says Stearns County ranks second among all Minnesota counites for boating while intoxicated infractions--trailing only Hennepin County.
Officials note that boating while intoxicated accounted for nearly one-third of all deadly boating accidents in the state last year.
