DNR issues northern Minnesota burning restrictions

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - The Department of Natural Resources is placing temporary burning restrictions on much of northern Minnesota because of fire danger.

Monday's forecast calls for warm conditions with low humidity and moderate winds throughout most of Minnesota. While a cold front is expected to move in and lower temperatures, the DNR says winds are likely to increase and keep fire danger high.

The restrictions mean the state will not give out permits for burning brush or yard waste until conditions improve.

The following counties are under burning restrictions: Aitkin, Anoka, Becker, Beltrami, Benton, Carlton, Cass, Chisago, Clearwater, Cook, Crow Wing, Hennepin, Isanti, Kanabec, Kittson, Koochiching, Lake, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, Marshall, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Ottertail, Pennington, Pine, Polk, Ramsey, Red lake, Roseau, Sherburne, St. Louis, Stearns, Todd, Washington and Wright.
