ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) Hunters looking for an ealry chance to  shoot some Canada geese this summer are in luck.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has announced a special hunt for the birds.

Steve Cordts, waterfowl specialist for the DNR, says the specially-scheduled hunt is part of a larger effort to keep goose numbers down.

The hunt begins Saturday, Aug. 9, and runs through Sunday, Aug. 24. Individual hunters will be permitted to shoot up to 10 Canada geese per day.
