ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) The St. Cloud School District will not ask voters to renew a tax increase this year.
The school board this spring announced its intention to have an election for authorization to renew an operating referendum. If passed, some of the money would have been used to renovate Clark Field at Tech High School--which has fallen into disrepair.
But Superintendent Willie Jett recommended the vote be delayed for one year while the district determines how legislative changes will impact school levies.
At Thursday night's school board meeting, the board unanimously approved putting off the election. The operating levy allows the school district to collect an additional $73 per student in funding--or about three-quarters of a million dollars.
