ST. PAUL, MN (AP) - Can you dig this: Minnesota Archaeology Week is coming up.

More than 15 events and activities will be held across Minnesota Sept. 8-16. You can tour ancient rock carvings, make arrowheads and axes, and celebrate a 19th century voyageur trading festival.

The Minnesota Archaeology Fair at Fort Snelling State Park kicks off the week. The two-day event includes artifact displays, pottery-making demonstrations, and canoe rides. The fair is open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, and from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9.

All Archaeology Week events are free and open to the public, although there may be site admission fees.

Minnesota Archaeology Week has been held annually since 1995. The Office of State Archaeologist is the main sponsor.
