KARLSTAD, Minn. (KNSI) Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton travels to Karlstad today to tour fire damage and meet with local officials to discuss recovery efforts.
About half of Karlstad's 750 residents were evacuated earlier this week when a raging wildfire approached town.
The flames destroyed eleven homes, two garages and 22 other outbuildings.
More than a dozen fire departments, the Minnesota National Guard and Minnesota DNR were all called in to fight the fire, which covered more than four-thousand acres. There were no injuries.
The Red Cross set up an office at the Karlstad Fire Hall to help victims with food, clothing and shelter.
