ST. PAUL, Minn. (KNSI) Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton has declared today (Saturday) Sir Paul McCartney Day in Minnesota.

The governor's proclomation recognizes McCartney for his contributions to music in a career spanning nearly six decades and celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first Beatles concert in Minnesota.

McCartney's first appearance in Minnesota was in 1965 with the Beatles at Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington.  He has since made several solo appearances in the state, including tonight's show at Target Field.

A full version of the proclomation can be found on the governor's website.
