BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple says he'll ask for a major disaster declaration from the White House to help cover damage from an early October blizzard.
He earlier proclaimed a winter storm emergency declaration that allows state agencies to work with local governments throughout the recovery process.
The storm caused extensive damages to the state's rural electric cooperatives' infrastructure and to roads.
Dalrymple says nearly 8,000 customers were part of an outage and the remaining 120 without power should be back online by this weekend.
