ALBANY, Minn. (KNSI) A Benson man was injured Monday morning when his car nearly collided with a garbage truck south of Albany.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says 54 year-old Steven Espelien was northbound on County Road 10 near Royal River Road when he swerved to avoid the garbage truck that drove through a stop sign at the intersection.

Espelien took evasive action to try and miss the garbage truck. His car left the road and went airborn, landing about 30 feet off the road in a soybean field.

Espelien was taken to a hospital in Paynesville to be treated for his injuries.

There was no mention of any injuries to the driver of the garbage truck--33 year-old Chad Robertson of Willmar.
