Cops: St. Cloud man using drugs crashes car into pole

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) – A St. Cloud man was under arrest after cops said he crashed his car into a pole under the influence of drugs.

St. Cloud police were dispatched to the 800 block of 2nd Street North to respond to a motor vehicle accident just before 11 p.m. Saturday. According to reports, Steven Michael Johnson, 23, showed multiple signs of impairment, including lethargic movements and very poor balance.

Officers located numerous bottles of whipped cream cans in Johnson's car and placed him under arrest for driving while impaired from a hazardous substance.

While searching Johnson prior to his arrest, officers located a pill of Alprazolam, a prescribed anxiety drug. Johnson admitted that he did not have a prescription for the controlled substance.

Johnson was booked and released at the Stearns County Jail for 3rd degree DWI and 5th degree drug possession.
