ST. PAUL, MN (AP) - The condition ratings for Minnesota's corn crop held steady amid warm, dry weather this past week.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture said Monday in its weekly crop weather report that temperatures averaged 6.6 degrees above normal statewide. Wheaton in western Minnesota reported the most rain at just over a quarter inch.
As of Sunday, corn condition was rated 5 percent very poor, 12 percent poor, 33 percent fair, 43 percent good, and 7 percent excellent. Eighty percent of soybeans were in fair to good condition, unchanged from the previous week.
The sugarbeet harvest was 7 percent complete with 77 percent of the crop in good to excellent condition. Potatoes were 30 percent harvested with 80 percent in good to excellent condition. The sweet corn harvest advanced to 84 percent complete.
