ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) County commissioners in Stearns and Sherburne counties adopted resolutions Tuesday that set their salaries for 2013.
Stearns County commissioners voted to freeze their salaries for next year. The vote was 4-to-1, with Commissioner Leigh Lenzmeier casting the only "no" vote.
Commissioners in Stearns County make $35,500 a year. They haven't voted themselves a pay raise in the past five years.
In Sherburne County, commissioners voted 4-to-1 to raise their salaries $753 a year, to $38,406 dollars. Sherburne County commissioners also earn a $50 per diem for meetings they attend.
State law requires county commissioners to adopt resolutions every year setting their own salaries and other compensation.
