ST. CLOUD (KNSI) - In a last-minute move, Coldspring's conditional use permit request is off the agenda for St. Cloud's Zoning Board of Appeals meeting on Tuesday evening.
KNSI News has learned that the city of St. Cloud has received a copy of a citizens' petition, which has been sent to the Minnesota Environmental Quality Board (EQB), requesting the preparation of a new Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) over Coldspring’s CUP request for expansion of their southwest St. Cloud quarry.
According to state rule, the City is required to complete the environmental review process prior to taking any regulatory action.
Now, the citizen petition will be brought before the City Council in December, in order to determine whether an environmental assessment worksheet is required for the project.
The conditional use permit request would then return to the Zoning Board of Appeals following the disposition of the petition and/or environmental review.
