WAITE PARK, Minn. (KNSI) The driver of a vehicle has died after crashing into the Sauk River in Waite Park.

Sergeant Jason Burke of the St. Cloud Police Department says the crash happened at 1:24 am Sunday west of 28th Avenue South near Mills Fleet Farm.

The vehicle driven by 23 year-old Jeffrey Duncan Sass of Clear Lake was eastbound on Stearns County Road 75 when it struck a bridge guardrail and left the road. The vehicle came to rest on the driver's side in the Sauk River.

Sass was the only occupant of the vehicle and was dead at the scene.

St. Cloud police were assisted at the scene by Waite Park police, the State Patrol, Waite Park Fire Department, Stearns County Sheriff's Office and Gold Cross Ambulance.
