ELK RIVER, Minn. (KNSI) - A Clear Lake man is behind bars, facing charges of assault and kidnapping.
Sherburne County Sheriff Joel Brott says 51 year-old Henry Maybury was taken into custody yesterday after the office received a complaint from the Benton County Sheriff's office, related to an individual who was being transported to St. Cloud Hospital after injuries sustained during an assault.
The unnamed victim alleges the situation began when they were taken at gunpoint from a home in Clear Lake and brought to another home nearby.
Once there, Maybury is alleged to have accused the victim of stealing in the area, and then used a steel pipe to break their hand.
The victim says they were then forced into a vehicle at gunpoint and driven to an area north of Foley before being released and managing to find a ride to the Benton County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators executed a search warrant at Maybury's home where they located a steel pipe, a handgun and a holster matching descriptions provided by the victim.
Maybury was arrested without incident. Charges have been filed in Sherburne District Court for Kidnapping and Second-Degree Assault.
