ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - The St. Cloud City Council has moved to place financial matters related to the River's Edge Convention Center into the hands of its own advisory board.
During Monday night's meeting, the council unanimously voted to repeal the "Civic Center Rates, Fees and Charges Established" ordinance.
The ordinance previously mandated that the advisory board consult with the city council in setting rates and prices in the operation of the center.
During the public hearing, Community Facilities Director Tony Goddard explained that, by assessing and setting their own rates, the River's Edge Convention Center will function more efficiently while allowing it to become more competitive and profitable in the future.
The ordinance had been in effect since 2007.
