WASECA, Minn. (AP) — Workers had to be evacuated from a printing plant in southern Minnesota after chemicals were accidentally mixed and gave off fumes.
Up to 200 employees were evacuated from Brown Printing in Waseca (wah-SEE'-kuh) Thursday morning. No one was hurt.
Brown Printing Director of Environment, Health and Safety Raymond Dewyer tells KTOE Radio there was never any spill.
Dewyer says a small amount of chemicals were accidentally mixed, giving off fumes that were "unusual." The plant was evacuated as a precaution.
A hazmat team was called in. Officials don't know what chemicals were mixed or how it happened.
The company says all employees are safe and accounted for.
Brown Printing has been in Waseca for 55 years. The company prints various magazines.
