Charges filed in shooting near Upsala

LITTLE FALLS, Minn. (KNSI) A shooting last weekend near Upsala has led to attempted murder and first-degree assault charges being filed against a Melrose man.

Twenty three year-old Gerardo Botello-Garcia is alleged to have shot 27 year-old Samuel Bennett of Sauk Centre at least twice during an argument along a road in Elmdale Township.

Bennett was taken to St. Cloud Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Bond for Botello-Garcia was set at $400,000 without conditions--or $200,000 with several conditions.

He was being held in the Morrison County Jail.
